Deliverance from the bondage of sin brings us into the liberty that is found in Christ Jesus. With liberty, as with all things, comes responsibility. It does not give us a license to live anyway we choose. Nor does it give us a license to do anything we choose. Neither does it give us a license to say anything we choose.
Paul instructs us in Romans to “…yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God“ (6:13). Again in Galatians, he says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free…Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh” (5:1,16).
We ‘walk in the Spirit’ as we daily ask for daily renewal and outpouring of the Holy Spirit into our lives. Jesus said, “…He will guide you into all truth…” (Jn. 16:13). In other words, we are to receive our instructions for daily living through the Word as the Holy Spirit makes It come alive to us by speaking to us as we continue to engage in our study of It. Therefore, “if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Gal. 5:25)…#thinkonthesethings
