The Sin of Complaining

complaint1Complaining can lead to accusations. Accusations can lead to suspicion. Suspicion can lead to questioning. Questioning can lead to rebellion. Complaining, in essence, is a byproduct of unbelief and the Bible teaches us that ‘anything that is not of faith is sin’ (Rom. 14:23). Complaining, if not dealt with immediately, will ultimately lead to rebellion. The prophet Samuel gives us a warning in saying that,

“…rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou (we) have rejected the Word of the Lord, He hath also rejected thee (us)…” (1 Sam. 15:23).

The Hebrew word for ‘reject’ means ‘to become loathsome.’ In other words, when we ‘reject’ God’s Word to us by complaining, we are, in essence, saying that obeying and following His Word is ‘becoming loathsome’ to us. The word ‘loathsome’ means ‘disgusting, revolting, and repulsive.’ Is this what we want to communicate to our Heavenly Father?…‪#‎thinkonthesethings‬
