Is it possible for us to look beyond the messenger in order to see the One from Whom the message comes? If the truth be told, we all have sometimes become distracted by the mode of communication in which God has chosen to convey His message to us. Is this because our ears have become spiritually dull (Heb. 5:11)? Or have we placed God within a box and have limited Him from speaking freely to us as a result of what we have conceived within our own minds?
God informs us in the Book of Isaiah that,
“…My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways…For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher then your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts…” (55:9).
If we are not careful, and most importantly, if we are not discerning, we will miss an opportunity to hear a fresh, rhema word from the Lord that will minister to us in our time of need.
Our prayer should be,
“Lord, help us to hear You when You are speaking to us. Help us to hear with precision and clarity. Help us to remember that You are the Sovereign God and are able to use whomever and whatever You choose to communicate Your message to us. Father, help us to be discerning and receptive…for we know not what to do…but our eyes are not fixed and focused upon the messenger…but they are on You…”…#thinkonthesethings
