According to the Bible, we were created in the image of God after His likeness (Gen. 1:26,27). This is stating the obvious assuming this is something we have always been raised to believe. For those of us who were not taught this basic Biblical truth as children or in our adolescent stage, this means that our lives are worth something for two reasons:
1) God created us in His own image after His likeness (Gen. 1:26,27).
This means that when God decided to create humanity, He also decided to place a little of Himself within each of us. This is why we are able to have intimate relationships with Him. The part of Him within us is able to communicate with Him. This is why we have a longing for something greater in our lives, even when we have not exercised our free will in accepting Him into our lives. There is a place within us that can only be filled by His Spirit. Nothing else can fill that place and we feel a great sense of emptiness without Him.
2) After God finished creating us and providing us with an introduction to life itself and allowing us to know our place within His overall creation, God placed HIS seal of approval upon us when He looked at His creation and “…behold, it was VERY GOOD…” (Gen. 1:31).
This means that regardless of what someone may have said to us or about us, God says we are “VERY GOOD!” This is how God feels about us, regardless of whether we have accepted His Son, Jesus, into our lives. It is the sin within us that He hates, not the person. Therefore, when He looks at us, though marred by sin, He still sees His image within us. When we accept His Son into our lives, the process of regeneration and sanctification begins within us through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God. This means that the image of God after His likeness within us is being restored as we take on the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus, His Son.
There is no monetary amount that can be paid for a human life. The only value that can be attributed to a human life is: PRICELESS. This why God places such a high premium upon the human life over all of the rest of His creation. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are beautiful. You are special. You are priceless. You are “VERY GOOD.” Why? Because God has said so…therefore, the matter is forever established and settled in the heavens with a perpetual decree…#thinkonthesethings
