A Time To Fly

baby eagle learning to flyA time will come wherein we will be required to ‘step out of the nest and attempt to fly on our own. ‘ At first, we may flutter and flounder, but we can rest assured in the fact that God is never so far away from that His eye is not upon to see us in our moments of distress (Ex. 19:4; 2 Chron. 16:9; Ps. 34:15; Prov. 15:3). He will come to assist us and return us back to the nest to ‘rest our wings’ before encouraging us to take the initial step again (Deut. 32:11).

mother eagle and baby eagleAt some point, God will shake the nest again and cause us to become uncomfortable, thereby, acknowledging the fact that it time to leave the nest again. We tend to want to remain in the nest wherein we are being fed milk, which will eventually stunt our ability to grow, develop and mature as we need. Therefore, we will become spiritually developmentally delayed and ineffective in the doing the work of the ministry. Paul stated,

“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able” (1 Cor. 3:1,2).

Ministry begins at home. Ministry, then, spreads to the church and eventually into the community. However, if we continue to remain in the nest and drinking milk instead of making attempts to eat enough meat wherein we will have the strength and ability to fly, then we will remain spiritually developmentally delayed and ineffective…‪#‎thinkonthesethings‬

  1. Stepping out of the comfort zone in faith according to our inner call…

  2. Yes a million times yes…outside the 4 walls…while being able to rock within the 4 walls too.

    • Yes! I’m feeling the level of complacency increasing within the church. I cannot do that…I believe that ministry thrives when we go back into the hedges and highways and compel them to come to Christ.

      • Absolutely…familiar with the 7 Mountains? Encouraging believers to launch outside the 4 walls and minister in their fields of expertise!

      • Yes! I think a lot of people have become comfortable with sitting on the pews and leaving ministry to the pulpit. We all are ambassadors of Christ and all have been called out to stand up for the advancement of the Kingdom.

      • Mmm see I could all day with this one ’cause its one of my burdens. Lest I keep ya too long…it is partly “our” fault for stressing CHURCHdom instead of KINGdom. So much so that many don’t think they have a voice unless they have a MIC…👀

      • Yes, mine as well. When we allowed religion and competition to take precedence over relationship and commitment, we began to see a gradual decline in effective ministry. We began to exalt those in the pulpit without realizing that God has anointed us to do the same work of ministry…only outside in the community.
