Lord, Prepare Me To Be Your Sanctuary

In Exodus 35:30-36:4, the Bible teaches us a very important lesson about engaging in the work of the Lord. Many people hear something from someone and rush into busyness…all in the name of Kingdom work. But was what they heard spoken by the mouth of God? Many people conjure up good ideas with good intentions. But was it a plan devised within their hearts by the Counsel of the Godhead?

Oftentimes, our zeal for the work of the Lord overshadows our ability to stand fast and wait for the Lord to actually speak to us. While we are waiting for the Lord to communicate His plan for us to us, we should remain in a posture of preparation through daily prayer and seeking the face of God for His direction. When the fullness of time comes, God will reveal what He desires for us to do and will provide the means with which to complete the task.

Exodus 35:30 – 36:4 provides us with the formula for success in Kingdom building:

“And Moses said unto the children of Israel, ‘See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel…and He (God) hath filled him (Bezaleel) with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship…and He (God) hath put in his (Bezaleel) heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab…Them (Bezaleel and Aholiab) hath He (God) fille with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work…Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the Lord put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary…”

What does this mean for us in our contemporary context? It means that whenever GOD calls us to do a work for the Kingdom, HE has to equip us with the gifts needed to accomplish the task in the manner that HE has instructed us to do. God will provide everything that is necessary “…to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary…” God will give us the wisdom, the knowledge, the understanding of how to complete the task. But God’s provision does not end there. God will also give us the ability to teach and instruct others in the manner of workmanship for the service of the sanctuary.

His Kingdom will come only when we have completed the work of the Kingdom. We can only complete the work of the Kingdom after we have been filled with God’s Spirit in order to accomplish each task. Our prayer and the cry of our hearts should be, “Lord, prepare our hearts in order for Your Holy Spirit to fill us for the work of the service of Your sanctuary! Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary!” #‎thinkonthesethings‬

  1. “God will provide everything that is necessary “…to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary…” God will give us the wisdom, the knowledge, the understanding of how to complete the task.” Yes, that’s the way it is. We only need to surrender to this fact…. and we could let things unfold peacefully in the knowing that (however it will turn out) it will be for our highest benefit.
