The Convenience Of Being Inconvenienced

As believers in the One True God, we are called to live lives of holiness which is to based upon His inspired Word. It is understood that we will not be able to live according the standards of the Word in 100% complete perfection. This is why God has given us the gift of His Holy Spirit to assist us with our daily walk. We are sure to fall short. We are sure to make mistakes. God knows this…and because He knows this, He has made a way for us to overcome this obstacle to our progression in life.

Having said this, one thing is certain: The Word of God is forever established in the heavens. It is the standard upon which we live our lives. There is nothing that we will be able to add to it or take away from it in order to “make” it relevant to our contemporary context. As new problems arise, the waters appear to become murkier with every attempt to apply old methodology to new problems. Christ Himself said in Luke 5:36-38,

“…No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish…”

The timelessness and relevance of the Word of God will continue as long as time exists. However, during these modern times, we really need to be discerning and slow to speak when addressing the new generation. Reason and skepticism have both become prevalent within the world of academia. This type of thinking has also crept over into the church. As the thinking of the world has evolved, some of us within the church have fallen behind and we are falling short in our approach to taking the Gospel of the Kingdom unto the uttermost parts of the earth.

We have to understand that everyone who enters into the fellowship is not looking to be entertained and having their ears tickled. We have a new generation of truth-seekers, and we have been given an opportunity to provide them with the truth found within the Word of God. The problem lies with our willingness to be “…made all things to all men, that we might by all means save some…” (1 Cor. 9:22).

This means that we must come out of our comfort zones of tradition in order to meet the sinner where he or she may be…this means that we must come out of our comfort zones of tradition in order to meet those who are hurting where he or she may be…this means that we must come out of our comfort zones of tradition in order to take the Gospel of the Kingdom to those who may have never heard of Jesus and His atoning work upon the cross…wherever they may be…

This means that we have to begin to pray…fast…seek the face of God for ways to think outside of the norm in order to fulfill the Great Commission and bring the Word to a lost and dying generation…even if it means that we are inconvenienced…#‎thinkonthesethings‬
