Respecting God’s Sovereignty

Aligning our lives with Kingdom principles requires a realignment of our way of thinking.

“And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?…” (2 Ki. 5:13)

Many times, like Naaman, we believe that in order for God to answer our prayers and move in our lives, there needs to be some gigantic, Divine production of sorts. Sounds like a good idea, right? But the fact remains that God does not have anything to prove to us or anyone else for that matter. He will still be the same Sovereign God whether we accept the manner in which He chooses to respond to our petitions or not. He will still be the same Sovereign God whether we agree with His methodology or not. James teaches us that,

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning…” (1:17).

Whatever God decides to do within our situation is right and it is good. Whatever God allows is right and it is good. Whatever takes place, God is able to use to bring about His eternal intention of advancing His Kingdom and restoring order to all of His creation…not just in our lives, but in everything. We must realign our thinking with Kingdom principles.
