Strangers In The Land

We do not have to conform to the ways of the surrounding culture to fulfill a need to belong within the world around us.

“When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations…” (Deut. 18:9).

When we are entering the land of promise, we must remember that God did not send us there to become a part of the existing culture. God’s intention is for us to exact change within this culture by living lives of holiness that have been consecrated to Him to fulfill His eternal purpose. Oftentimes, the environment God into which God sends us is devoid of anything that resembles Him in any way, shape, form or fashion. He presents us with an opportunity to introduce others to Himself and to leave their former lives through embracing the newness of life that we have found in His Son, Jesus the Christ. We cannot take our relocation to another place lightly. It must be viewed as a Divine assignment fueled by Divine intention and purpose. Just as many in today’s society is intent on living their lives without God, we must be just as determined to live our lives out loud with God.

  1. Great reminder. Thanks Sean.

  2. Yes! This is an excellent post and packed with truth. He loved the world that He not only gave His life and defeated death for us, He also left us here to make disciples, so through us others may come to know His resurrection power. We are to be a peculiar people 🙂
