“The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day…” (Deut. 5:3)
It has become a customary practice of some Christian circles to exclude the teachings of the Old Testament. This is based on the fact that when Jesus came to the Earth, He proclaimed that He was the fulfillment of the law. With the establishment of the New Covenant, it is assumed that the older teachings no longer apply.
However, we must acknowledge and understand that although the teachings were framed during an earlier period and was correlative to its context, the principles themselves came from God and are. therefore, timeless and eternal. Unlike His creation, God is not confined to time-spatial parameters. Therefore, anything that comes from Him has already existed in eternity prior to its physical manifestation.
Having said this, we must refer to the ancient teachings to gain a better understanding of those things which are taking place within the contemporary context. We cannot toss these eternal, God-inspired teachings aside to suit our own level of comfortability because we have a lack of knowledge pertaining to them. ENGAGE THE SCRIPTURES…and see what the Lord is trying to teach His people during these last days.
