It Is All Worth It

The value of eternal life with God is worth every sacrifice that we are called to make.

“These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth…” (Deut. 12:1).

The life lesson which continues to be of paramount importance is that we should live a lifestyle of focused worship unto God. There should be distinguishing characteristics that mark our lives in such a way that are noticeable to those around us. If we look like the world, talk like the world, act like the world, and think like the world, then most likely we are still in the world. However, this is not the lifestyle unto which God has called us.

We must be radical in the sense that our lives appear to be counterculture to those around us. To be radical and counterculture does not mean to be extremist, but it means to be adhere to a lifestyle which does not align with what everyone else is doing. In other words, swimming upstream while others are going in the opposite direction. We are not called to “fit in” because we do not belong. God calls us to a higher standard of living because of Who He is and who we are to be in relation to Him.

Does it mean we will lose friends and not be popular with the ‘in’ crowd? More than likely so, but the benefits are eternal and God always replaces those things which we have lost with something of greater value: Himself. Is it worth it in the end? I would dare to say that, in counting the cost, “Yes, it really is worth it all!”

“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal…” (2 Cor. 4:18).

  1. Worth more than we are able to explain, or that anything of this world could compare.
Thank you for sharing these truths.
