“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed…” (Is. 53:5).
About four and one-half years ago, I was in a serious car accident wherein the other person, driving in the lane next to me, hit the front end of the driver’s side of the car I was driving. The impact knocked my car off to the right side of the road. I ended up running into a fire hydrant. The impact was so hard that even though I had my seat belt on, I was knocked into the passenger’s side and blacked out for a few minutes.
When I came to, I was in such pain…especially in my neck. When I was able to muster up the strength, I got out of the car to survey the damage. The entire front was severely damaged. After about an hour and one-half later, the police arrived. About two to three hours later, I was being transported to the hospital to be examined.
Why was it a miracle? A few feet away from the fire hydrant was a large tree that I would have struck had the fire hydrant not been there. The position of the fire hydrant was the difference between my life and my death. The end blessing was that I walked away from the accident with only severe whiplash after having looked at the car.
Unfortunately, all of these years later, I still suffer from chronic neck from time to time. Yesterday and today are two of those moments. But I woke up this morning to write because I did not write anything yesterday. I had nothing to write and my mind was seriously not focused, but the Holy Spirit dropped the verse above from the prophet Isaiah into my spirit. Now I find myself sharing my testimony with you…
The verse is a reminder that I am still among the land of the living, and while I am in pain, I still have my life and am able to enjoy it to the fullest! There will come a day when I will no longer suffer from this pain. The price has already been paid for my healing, so I am healed regardless of what I feel in my body. Why? Because the Word of the Lord says so!
