“…and there is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother…” (Prov. 18:24).
Friends come and friends go. Some friendships last a lifetime and others for only a short season in our lives. They see us laugh. Sometimes, they see us cry. They may walk through good times, and through the bad ones too. These are the people we turn to at every moment we experience in life. But there are those times when we realize that their friendship is not enough. Why? Because everyone has their limit, and at some point, we will see that even their love has limits as well.
This is where we realize that there is only One Who loves us regardless of what we have done. His love comes with no conditions attached to them. He accepts us just the way we are…stuck in our mess, spinning our wheels in circles, falling short in keeping our promises…and then He still takes us in as His very own.
God accepts us as we are. He does not place any expectations on us that He knows we do not have the capacity to fulfill. God does not abandon when we make wrong decisions. He welcomes us to come to Him to help us make things right. He never leaves us in a moment of failure, but lifts us up and encourages us to keep going on.
God is that Friend that will stick closer to us…regardless…
“…When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up…” (Ps. 27:10).
