State Of The World Segment
The State of the World, Pt. 1
By Kendra Clarke
The world of politics is not for the faint of heart. It is a knockdown, drag-out event that often leaves its victims battered and bruised, not to mention, it leaves some collateral damage in its wake. Evil exists in every corner of the globe, in every government and municipality and in every segment of society where corruption has been allowed to fester and take root. The enemy has infiltrated some of the highest seats and positions of leadership held by persons with influence in our nation’s capital, state and local governments, and throughout the world. Ephesians 6:12 informs us that, “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”.
These politicians and civil servants threaten to disrupt and destroy the current political structure and replace it with their own agenda. Their agendas are borne out of their own self-interest and their greed (for both money and power) rather than that of the public good. They are consumed by their desire to have it all, while others have very little or nothing at all. Even with all the money and power at their fingertips, they are still not satisfied. 1 Corinthians 10:24 teaches us that, “No one should seek their own good, but the good of others,” while Ecclesiastes 5:10 reveals to us that, “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income”. This sadly, is the state of our politics as we have allowed these people to be elevated to office without taking careful consideration of their motives and qualifications. They are more dangerous than the average citizen in that they have seats at the table and benefactors with deep pockets. They promulgate, interpret and enforce legislation that effects not just a few, but the masses.
Many have continued to cheat the system, mislead the people and distort the truth to obtain their positions of influence and power. They are more than willing to continue that trend to ensure victories in the future. The moral fabric of our nation has been ripped apart. No longer are we considered the beacon of truth and our politics the envy of the world. The land of opportunity where the streets are paved with milk and honey has long been replaced with sheer arrogance, greed, self-interest and hypocrisy. As of late, we have sought to repair our reputation on the world stage, but these vestiges of evil still exist to ensure the status quo will not go away quietly. We must ask ourselves, how did this happen? How were they able to pull the wool over so many eyes? How were they able to hijack our political system without being detected or challenged? How did we cede our power and voices to them in a time when so much is on the line? When we have answered those questions, we must, then, devise a plan to take back our power, let our voices be heard and continue to fight against the very complacency which landed us here in the first place. United we stand and divided we fall. One voice can be drowned out or ignored, but collectively, we are a force to be reckoned with.
